The feel of a city is greatly impacted by its architecture and layout, and most neighborhoods in any given city will tend to be similar, including the color palettes. However, sometimes you can get caught off-guard if you come across an unusually shaped or colored building, and it can completely change the visual dynamic of the city. Here are a few surprising color palettes found in cities across the world that would definitely grab anyone's attention.

see, why can't we do that in chicago? i mean, i found a place on the el where it looks sort of like this, but it's not as crazy-cool. it's gray, purple, and bright red. it's kind of funky looking.
oh, and there are new condos that look sort of like this. don't remember what colours they are, though. but this is still wicked cool. ^^

I love colorful architecture, so pretty and pleasing too look at.
The bahama's had some gorgeous beach side condos that were just lovely. Although I remember them being much brighter in person here is a visual... http://www.flickr.com/photos/bdlighted/841749899/ (not mine, but its the ones I was thinking of)

I remember going to Miami, and on one of the corners in South Beach was this massive building. It was painted in every pastel color you could imagine. Come to think of it, everything in that town was colorful.

These are great. I do adore brave architecture. Color can do a lot for a building.

I saw many beautiful & colourful buildings on my trip around Europe last year. I especially liked this one - a theatre in Copenhagen which was contracted out to an artist to decorate in a way which would discourage grafitti.
