Hello everyone! So -- the semester just started, which means that I'm actually going to have to make time for COLOURlovers instead of just sitting down every night and playing around here. I'll try to check in at least once a week, so please be patient if I'm not very quick with thank-yous.
Hi, I'm Emily. Although my talents and interest mostly lie in the literary realm (as a reader, writer, and critic), I have an eye for color and design -- especially book covers and web sites. Unfortunately, I am COMPLETELY untalented when it comes to art. My handwriting is horrible and I think there are many sixth-graders who can draw better than I do. I love COLOURlovers because it's an outlet for design that doesn't require a whole lot of technical skill. I don't know if I'd call my palettes, patterns, and colors "self-expression," but they're still a creative outlet, nonetheless.
I've been trying to come up with an explanation of the things that I like. When I first started here, I thought I was mostly drawn to pinks, greens, and blues, usually in bright shades. Since then, however, my creations and my favorites of other people's work have surprised me. I guess I like anything, as long as it's done well. I'm very drawn to the things I like -- it's an instantaneous, impulsive reaction.
I'm not going to say that mass thank-you and number palettes are my favorite things in the world, but this is still a badge-friendly page. And if I favorite something of yours, please post it in a comment! I
want people to show off their great work!
Here are some of my recent favorites:
