I have partial colour blindness, and I choose colours that I think look good together, instead of paying much attention to theory - which I find difficult to appreciate.

Mistakes are easy to make, so I tend to avoid designs that associate themselves too closely with traditional colour themes, which can instead lend themselves to more varied palettes. I usually build from one or two colours with appropriate contrasts and experiment later.
